On February 20th,  WUSC Regina will be celebrating Saskatchewan’s History of Sponsoring Refugees.

This gala highlights the youth empowerment from 3 key speakers and the work that the University of Regina students have done in sponsoring 60 refugee students that have originated from various countries including Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Burma, Eritrea, Rwanda, Somalia, and Sudan. Many of our sponsored students have established roots in Saskatchewan and have become valued members of Saskatchewan’s increasingly diverse community, as well as other cities in Canada. WUSC also raises awareness of the situation of refugees, such as education of girls and women with the Shine a Light campaign, and the living conditions of a refugee camp with the Mock Refugee Camp, and develops youth leaders through global awareness events and programs such as Students Without Borders.
